Will they know it was me?
Three different people could learn you reported this, and they are not the same question. Here is where each one actually stands.
- The person doing this
- No. They are not told that a report exists or who made it, and that is true whether or not you give us your details. Giving your name to the police was never what exposed you to them.
- The police
- Only if you choose it. For content involving a woman or a child, the law lets you leave your details out entirely. That right exists here and on no other kind of complaint.
- Someone using this phone
- That one is up to this device, not to us. Hide this page is at the bottom of the screen the whole way through, and the Escape key does the same thing. It replaces this page rather than adding to your history, so the back button does not return here.
Both routes reach the police. They differ afterwards.
The report is filed and the content can be acted on. We ask for no name, no number and no account, and none is recorded.
You will never hear anything back. There is no reference number, nothing to track, nothing to add later, and it cannot be withdrawn.
The same report, plus a number you can check, evidence you can add whenever you have it, and an officer who can reach you for the one detail that decides a case.
